As part of its concern for the healthy working environment for the factories, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development. The signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of "MODON," Eng. Khalid Al Salem, and the undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor for Inspection and Development of the Work Environment, Sattam Bin Amer Al Harbi, the ministry's representer. The memorandum stipulates to mandate the inspection tasks to "MODON" observers, through the "Comprehensive Observer" program, with the aim of creating a healthy working environment for factory workers within the industrial cities of "MODON",  and to submit periodic reports on safety and occupational health and the working environment of women and people with special needs. The memorandum also included cooperation between the parties in the field of periodic and statistical reports, seeking to unify the regulations and technical specifications, spreading awareness of the rights and duties of employers and employees, and providing a channel for communicating and reporting on the work environment of women. Al-Salem pointed out that such cooperation aims to achieve successful partnerships between MODON and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development by facilitating procedures, investing resources, unifying national efforts and raising the efficiency of work to create a healthy work environment for the employees of enterprises within the industrial cities, and supporting  to enable the industry and enhance their growth. The comprehensive observer program is an initiative aimed at integrating the internal divisions of "MODON" as well as integration with other government parties by unifying the efforts of the inspection visits, thus enhancing the goal of increasing the efficiency of follow-up and control and reducing the time, effort and cost and to ensure that the data of industrial establishments are updated.
