The Ministry of Labor and Social Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Saudi Industrial Property Authority “MODON” on Tuesday to establish a sound and healthy work environment for workers in the industrial cities through cooperation in the field of inspection visits to establishments, and to raise awareness of the rights and duties of employers and employees.
The agreement signed by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Research and Development of Work Environment, Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abu Thenain and the Director General of MODON, Eng. Khalid Mohammed Al Salem, contributes to the realization of the Saudi Vision 2030 and the objectives of the National Transition Program 2020 through developing the working environment and improving occupational safety and health practices; in addition to improving the working environment of women and enhancing the level of compliance with regulations.
According to the agreement, the Ministry and “MODON” are committed to coordinate in the joint inspection campaigns of the establishments in general, and entities with women's sections in particular. They also agreed to standardize the inspection models, as well as jointly linking the data of establishments in the industrial cities, in addition to periodic reports on occupational safety and health, and work environment (e.g. women's work, work of persons with disabilities).
The agreement will also work on harmonizing the regulations and manuals related to occupational safety and health, the terms and conditions set out in the decisions of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, and providing a channel for communication and reporting on the work environment and women's opinions through the Ministry and “MODON” communication channels.
