The existing industrial cities previously lacked the availability of support services. During the last year, the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON) created investment opportunities for the private sector in the industrial cities to provide urban services in these industrial cities at a high-quality level, in order to provide all basic, essential and distinguished services needed by industrialists in the industrial cities.

The urban services include:

• Gas stations
• Residential buildings and hotels
• Auto service and maintenance centers
• Commercial centers
• Restaurants
• Coffee Shops
• Sports and recreational centers
• Advanced communication services (smart cities)
• Medical Services
• Training centers
• Mosques and Community education centers
• Government services offices
• Industrial Security Services

• Service and support centers, such as warehousing, shipping and mail services.

Requirements and specifications for factories

• Commitment of factories to the requirements of the construction issued in Guidelines & Building Requirements for Factories and Services Facilities and the support services in the industrial cities issued by MODON.
• The construction units of the factory include (production areas, warehouse for raw materials, warehouse for produced materials, personnel services, electric power supply, industrial security and safety services, internal roads, regular backyards, administrative building).
• Production areas should be of appropriate height and include all the mechanical production lines according to the type of industry.
• Area of the warehouse for raw materials should meet the raw material needs of the factory for a period of three months.
• Area of the warehouse for produced materials should cover the storage of the factory's production for two months.
• The personnel services required for the factory include (toilets, place for prayer, first aid, food hall and dressing room).
• Administration building includes the offices that serve the factory.
• The supply functions of electrical power include an electricity room of medium and low voltage and the main circuit breaker room.
• Security and safety services of the factory consist of fire fighting tanks and fire fighting system of the plant units and fire alarm.
  Internal roads to facilitate movement between different units of the factories and to link the entrances of the factories with the main roads.
• Regular backyards between the industrial part and the fence should not exceed (5 m) and among the adjacent buildings should not be less than (5 m).
