Development projects in Al-Kharj Industrial City to cost 540 million riyals
His Excellency, the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON), Dr. Tawfig Bin Fawzan Alrabiah paid a field visit to Al-Kharj Industrial City in the presence of members of the National Committee for Industry and Managers of Departments, Projects and Industrial Cities at MODON.
His Excellency praised the achievements realized in the industrial cities and during the meeting of the National Committee for Industry he reviewed the construction projects of the new cities and the rehabilitation and development projects of the existing cities.
The visit also included a field tour of the highway project linking Al-Kharj industrial city and Al-Dulm expressway. The cost of the 25 km long road project amounts to185 million riyals and includes bridges for free intersections and cutting of mountains estimated at 2.5 million cubic meters. The earth filling also amounts to 5 million cubic meters; whereas the highway project will be completed before the end of this year.
The power transmission plant was also visited, where the power supply projects cost amounted to 136 million riyals.
The Director General of MODON Eng. Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed announced that Al-Kharj Industrial City provided industrial lands in the Riyadh region and ended the waiting lists for industrial lands. He added that there is still a constant demand from investors to establish industrial projects in all industrial cities scattered all over the Kingdom's regions.
Eng. Al-Rasheed added: “The area of Al-Kharj Industrial City is about 100 million square meters and is about 90 km away from Riyadh. The development works of phase 1 of the infrastructure have been completed on an area of 5.5 million square meters at a cost of 540 million riyals including provision of services, fully allocated for industrial projects. MODON has begun the development of Phase II to keep pace with the growing demand for industrial lands;” adding “Al- Kharj Industrial City will have a distinctive design and a suitable environment for factories, thereby providing job opportunities for Saudis”. Furthermore, the industrial city has attracted local and international industrial investments and in reality more than 32 factories have been established while some of these have started production, whereas there are dozens of requests under execution.
The Master plan of the industrial city consists of areas allocated for industrial activities, residential uses, commercial activities, marketing exhibitions, services center, public utilities, roads and warehouses, so that all businessmen can invest in various available opportunities; whether in industrial, residential, commercial or service fields.
The MODON delegation after visiting Al- Kharj Industrial City paid a visit to Riyadh 3rd. Industrial city, which lies 25 km on Al-Ha'er road on an area amounting to 1.2 million square meters. The recent achievements in the city’s development projects and the linking road project were reviewed, while the allocation of lands will be initiated very soon.
At the end of his statement, Eng. Al-Rasheed added: “Riyadh 3rd industrial city will be a unique and leading city for serving the community where some Al-Ha'ir reformatory prisoners will work on the jobs available in factories and enable them to acquire technical skills by the opportunity being provided to work in the factories, enabling them to continue to work in the same factories or in other projects after completing their sentences; after being rehabilitated and trained. Hopefully, the incentives and procedures for the allocation of lands will be announced soon.
